Loretta was my dearest friend for over 30 years. Her twinkle and laugh always filled my
Heart with gratitude that I was blessed to have her. I miss her everyday. I miss those weekly phone calls and once a month visits. We went to lunch, ate cupcakes, and laughed at her hilarious stories. She and Jim were the BEST. Ginny Ross Williamsburg, VA.

Grew up knowing the Ellis' and remember singing in the choir at Calvary with her. Such a pretty voice. Sincere condolences to the family.

Mrs. Ellis was my third grade teacher at OLMC in 93-94. I have many memories of proper pencil grip and cursive writing from her class!

Loretta Ellis, what a lady! I know Mrs. Ellis from our days at Calvary Baptist in Newport News. She was a good friend of my mother, Virginia Nichols, for many years. Mrs. Ellis was a dynamic force at Calvary as was her whole family. Today I believe Loretta is singing in heaven. Amen

My husband Ted and I are very sorry to hear of Mrs. Ellis's passing. She was the teacher of both of our daughters in third grade. That is Christina and Lisa Talay at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Newport News. WE have many a memory of her. May you and your family find comfort in people who care.

Mrs. Ellis was my 3rd grade teacher and is still my favorite. She taught me to love reading (by reading Matilda during breaks) and to spread my wings. I have since become an educator and have had to gently chide students for rushing through their work so they can spend time reading, just as she did to me. I am very sorry for your loss. She was a treasure.
