My husband Kevin worked with Marguerite at VHB back in 2001. I remember moving down to Williamsburg from NYC and not knowing anybody. Marguerite and I had music in common. She had such a lovely voice and was a wonderful guitar player. We would go over to her house and practice chords from the Michelle Branch song "Goodbye to You." Her home was lovely, backing into the woods. She enjoyed gardening and nature. I remember how she had a mole problem in her garden and was trying to use vibrations to remove it. My husband and I moved away from VA in 2003 and we kept in touch with Marguerite infrequently. It was more so after we had our children. We did have the pleasure of introducing our eldest to Marguerite when she was 3 months old in 2007. On our way back from Virginia Beach, we stopped off in Williamsburg where we met her parents at their home. I remember we went to a Parisian restaurant afterwards. That was the last time we saw Marguerite. She was such a wonderful person and we will miss her dearly.

Marguerite Wonsey looms large in the history of my developing years. She was my best friend in junior high, and lived just down the street from me. She taught me my first guitar chords, and was the reason I asked for (and received) a guitar for Christmas in 1965. We spent many hours working out chords for the songs of the day. She was socially adept - even at a young age - and was quite generous. In the summer of 1967 she won a copy of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" in a radio contest, but already owned the album, so she gave the extra to me, thus spawning my lifelong love of the Beatles.
For someone like me - a nerdy, skinny, glasses-and-braces-adorned geek - her friendship was the closest I got to being part of the "in crowd." She was a rare example of someone who was extremely hip, but not the least snobbish. She was sweet and kind and non-judgmental, and my life is better for having Marguerite in it.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to read that Marguerite is no longer with us. There was not a more sweet or gentle spirit than hers. My thoughts are with all whose lives she touched.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Marguerite' sudden passing. For her family and friends, we wish all the strength and serenity they can find in this time of great loss.

What a sad day to realize that Marguerite has passed on. She was always so friendly and welcoming, and she had a sweet and optimistic approach to life. She will be missed.
