Bonnie Sumpter, age 81 of Centerville died Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center, Centerville, Iowa.
She was born December 13, 1930 along the Chariton River in a tent with a wooden floor in a shoebox above the bread warmer, outside of Centerville, Iowa,. She is the daughter of Lon and Dorothy (Crow) Stark. Bonnie received her education in Centerville and graduated from CHS with class of 1950. She married Doyle Sumpter at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Centerville with Rev. Benson, on April 1, 1950. She was also a member of her church choir, and enjoyed country music. For many years she canvassed the neighbor hood for donations to the American Cancer Society. Bonnie loved to crochet, make bed spreads, her garden and flowers and watch the birds.
She is survived by her husband Doyle; eight children, Sheila Manns of Rockford, Illinois, Sherry Campbell of Rockford, Illinois, Julie Smalley of Rockford, Illinois, Rebecca (David) McLain of Rockford, Illinois, Damon (Cindy) White of Rockford, Illinois, Kerri White of Rockford, Illinois, Kelly (Jerry) Seelig of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Courtney Smith (Gina Rae Morris) of Rockford, Illinois; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild on the way; special friends adopted by the heart, Darren Hamilton (Heather Benjamin) and Wayne Hamilton.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Dixie Seehaver; and a brother Robert Stark.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday morning November 13, 2012 at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9AM until 11AM Tuesday at the Lange Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa following the service. A memorial has been established to the Bonnie Sumpter Memorial Fund and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, 1900 South 18th St, Centerville, Iowa 52544. Memories & Candles

One of the memories that I remeber of my Aunt Bonnie was when she came to visit our family in Arizona a few years ago. My Uncle Doyle loved the Arizona cactus. We were shopping andand a shop had many different glass cactus. I had to keep him occupied while she went to purchase one for him. We were on a picnic table and she gave it to him. He was very surprised. It was a nice moment. We will miss you. We will meet again.
