I first met Big John when I was a guest on the morning show with Pidge and Terri. I had mentioned that I wanted to go into broadcasting and he really gave me great advice. I didn't know him personally, but the few times we did see each other, he was very down to earth and love striking up conversations with people he never met. I still take his advice no matter where I go in my broadcasting career-whether it be back home in Indiana or some 2,000 miles away in Louisiana.

I never had the opportunity to meet John, or listen to his show, but I have met many people who had that opportunity and they spoke very highly of him. My condolences to the family.

To the family,
I remember Big John well, and was saddened to learn of his passing. We were at IU and he was someone I always liked and looked up to. May you be comforted thinking of the good times you had. He 's flying higher than any traffic copter ever could!

Bill & Mae Yeagy, He was generous with his time and help me on several charities. Also a good friend. He will be miss by everyone who knew him.

I had the honor to meet Big John just before he took off to the east coast in the 70's. We met over at Stouffers in the Grog Shop, behind IBC/NAP when I came over with Cris Conner for lunch. John was already eating and asked us to join him. He finished before we did and all I remember was when he stood up, he looked like a GIANT from my perspective. Over the years as I worked in Indianapolis

I knew John in high school, through the MYF (church youth group), if you can believe that! Our paths crossed sporadically through the years and I always was glad to see him. My husband, Charlie, knew John through Sherry, when she was at Ritter, and we always wanted to get together. Sadly, that will have to wait now. The world will be a less wonderful place without John's voice, personality, and presence.

I had the pleasure of working briefly with John when he returned to Indianapolis after programming our sister station in Boston, WVBF. John returned as a production manager for a while before moving on to various other parts of the Fairbanks Broadcasting empire. He was there a lot of evenings and we got to talk on many occasions. The makers of denim jumpsuits the world over mourn your passing, John, as do I. John was a kind and generous man. He will be missed.
