Chief Jerry will always be in my heart. He is a good man and he loved and looked after his firefighters. I remember a 3 story house fire on Pitt St. that we fought when I was just rookie. It was cold and wet, about 3AM, he told us to ladder the building and check the roof for fire. It was a wet slippery tin roof and when I got to the top of the ladder, axe in hand, I was a bit worried, I was a lot worried about walking on that roof. Then I heard someone say, go ahead, you'll be okay, I'm right here with you. It was Chief Jerry. Together we did the job at hand and I was amazed of how he ran around on that roof like a squirrel. I don't think he was afraid of anything. He was always down to earth and easy to talk to. I will always remember him as a firefighter's Chief and a caring man that always listened and helped if he could. I am honored and blessed to have known Chief Jerry.

Jerry was kind, careing and giving. Forever helpful to everyone. If he caould he would. He loved his family and he loved his animals. I am happy to have known him all my life. He always called me Al never Alice. We all will miss him.... Love and prayers, Alice (AL).

When Jerry decided to do something there was no stopping him. He decided the fence in Moms' back yard needed fixing so he brought everything needed to do the job. He even hauled away the old fence in the back of your van because he didn't want to leave Aunt Eunie's yard messed up.
