BOMBINO, ROBERT MICHAEL, 91, of Longwood, FL, passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2012. He was born August 22, 1921 in New York City to Gaetano & Maria D'Auria Bombino and enjoyed a childhood typical of that era, free to explore and experience life and the world to the fullest. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946, attaining the rank of Captain and, since he spoke fluent Italian, was assigned to the Civil Affairs Office in Italy for the majority of his service. In 2001, Bob found true love with Doris "Dori" Ermisch and they were married in 2002. Along with Dori, he is survived by his brother, Joseph Bombino of Ocean Pines, MD; son Robert G. Bombino, Tempe, AZ; daughter Valerie Bombino, Longwood, FL; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Bob loved to play chess, write his memoirs and science fiction tales, work in his garden, Dewar's & water and, above all, his beloved Dori. His passing is a huge loss for every one in his extensive family, his large circle of friends and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service attesting to that fact and celebrating Bob's remarkable life will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 2pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Altamonte Chapel, 994 E.
