Mrs. Mary Alice Lawson

Mrs. Mary Alice Edwards Lawson, 82, a former resident of High Point, passed away Friday at the GrayBrier Nursing & Retirement Center following several years of declining health.
A native of High Point, she was born November 13, 1930, a daughter of the late William Collier and Lettie Brock Edwards. She was a 1949 graduate of High Point High School and graduated from the High Point Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She had a 35 year career as a dedicated Registered Nurse. Mary Alice loved to spend her vacation time at the coast in "The Camper". She enjoyed pier fishing, cross stitching, watching the Atlanta Braves and was an expert pound cake maker. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Lawson; a sister, Helen Edwards Andresen; and two brothers, Roy and James Edwards. She was a life-long member of Westchester Baptist Church.
Surviving are her son, Rick Lawson and wife Ami Reid Lawson of Trinity; two sisters, Margaret Crouse of Thomasville and Becky Nixon of Charleston, SC; a host of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Davis Funerals and Cremations Chapel by the Rev. Eric Peacock. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2 – 3 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff of GrayBrier for their concern, comfort and excellent care shown to Mary Alice. Memorials may be directed to Westchester Baptist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
