My condolences to you and the family. Stan & I played many rounds of golf here in Sun City a few years back and I want you to know that I have never met a finer gentleman in my life. He was considerate and thoughtful of everyone. Stan was one of the first to contact me when my son had a heart attack and offered his assistance in any way possible. Thank you Stan for all that you did to make a wonderful life with Patty so much better. Thanks for embracing Karen, it meant so much to know it was ok with you for me to move on. I just learned today of Stan's passing. I am Bob and Helen Franden's daughter, Elise Wilkinson. I remember the visit to my Dad here in League City in 2006 right before my Dad passed away. I was so impressed Stan was still driving and looking so young. I send heartfelt condolances to Pat and all family members. Mom and Dad dearly loved him and enjoyed his fun stories.

In fact, if I could only choose a word to describe Grandpa I would pick "classic". Grandpa has set a standard of hard work, excellence, and calculated risk that is a high calling. However, his moral excellence and uncompromising adherence to right and wrong are even higher callings.

A final word on Grandpa and his love for all of us: Grandpa did not choose to express his commitment to all of us with the most warm and fuzzy demonstrations.

Yet, his commitment to each of us in his extended family, including Pat's family, is obvious. It may be seen not nearly as much by what he would say, but rather by what he would DO, much like the song "More Than Words", popular in the 1990s.
Grandpa, you are a classic indeed. You will be greatly missed and always treasured in our hearts. My heart goes out to my Uncles, Stanley and Ronnie, and to my angelic mother, but especially to Pat, Grandpa's faithful and gracious wife of 47 years. I love you all and wish that I could be there with you tonight. We toast Grandpa Raczynski, for a life well-lived.

Some of my favorite childhood memories were of visiting Grandpa and Pat's lovely home in Kansas City, MO. Some of my favorite childhood memories were of visiting Grandpa and Pat's lovely home in Kansas City, MO. I think I must have worn through several swimsuits sliding down the spiral slide that dumped into the pool. It was like a playground swinging on the big swing in the backyard where my Mom and Dad fell in love, attempting to get a hole in one on the putting green, or playing a mean game of pingpong in the basement.

For a few summers the extended Raczynski family met for reunions at Tan-Tar-A on the Lake of the Ozarks. Could more fun have been had? It was there that I wore Uncle Ronnie out turning the motor boat around again and again until finally I learned to slalom ski. I don't have a great memory, I remember those reunions like they were yesterday.
In college, my cousin Laurie and I visited Grandpa and Pat at South Padre Island. There Grandpa treated us like princesses. Still, my most fond memory was Grandpa dropping the key to his Mercedes down the elevator shaft in his condo complex. I don't remember what we did about it, but boy did we have a good laugh, at least Pat, Laurie and I did.
No matter how many grandchildren were married before me, Grandpa and Pat showed up to my wedding and acted as if it was the only wedding and hence the most special wedding they ever attended. Just to clarify, the entire wedding started late because Grandpa and Pat got lost getting there, but their spirit was the same regardless. They did the same with high school and college graduations and many other family events. Simply put, Grandpa and Pat chose to spend whatever time they could with us, whether in one another's homes or traveling to places like Alta, NM or Sun Valley, Idaho. It doesn't surprise me that Grandpa loved Sun Valley. A small Idaho mountain town, it can be described the same way that I would describe Grandpa: adventurous, warm-spirited, and classy.

I have debated back and forth in my heart about joining all of you at tonight's Honoring Dinner. If I were not already traveling on the East Coast, I would certainly be there with you. I will miss each of you as collectively we honor and celebrate Grandpa.

While Grandpa is known by so many for his business savvy and creative mind, I prefer to remember him for a few of his more simple "habits". I find

While Grandpa is known by so many for his business savvy and creative mind, I prefer to remember him for a few of his more simple "habits". I find that it is so easy to take one another for granted, especially those with whom we live and love the most. I will forever remember Grandpa for his daily pre-dinner cribbage game with Pat. Simple investments of time and resources do make a world of difference! His consistency, tenacity, and determination to prevail, even in this simple game, are traits that Grandpa exhibited in all areas of his life. The secret to a good marriage and family life are these very things. So often I start and stop ventures...not Grandpa! I know that each year they crowned a Cribbage Winner. I may never know that tally at the time that Grandpa passed. It is inconsequential. The investment of relationship, however, is immeasurable.

I will also remember Grandpa for his consistent and overwhelming generosity. Whether it be a birthday card and check or a larger gift, Grandpa always wanted others to benefit from his blessings, whether his financial wealth, the wealth of his wisdom or experience, or the wealth of life principles for which we would all be better if we were to apply them to our own lives.

One of these life principles was that of balancing delayed gratification with simple pleasures. When my family had the honor of visiting Grandpa this summer we went to breakfast at a local diner in Georgetown. Grandpa insisted that we order the coconut cream meringue pie. When I reminded him that it was 9a, he retaliated kindly but sternly, "Life is short. Eat dessert first. If it's good, don't let it pass from you."

I am so sorry for your loss. Your grandfather was a wonderful man and inspiration to many. God blessed your family with such a special gift of his life. May you be comforted to know he is back with God for eternal life. Much love and prayers....Mary
