I met Uncle Joe only about 3 times, and I wish I had met him a couple more times. We both have almost identical taste in music, and it's also both of our passions so I would've loved to talk to him about it. Shine on Uncle Joe, you crazy diamond.

I met Joe on 1982 at the YMCA where he was a resident and I was the overnight front desk attendant. Joe was in his early 20s, he was a very bright guy and loved to stay up all night talking and playing card games with me. After leaving the YMCA i saw Joe again at Fedelity House where my sister was his caseworker. Joe hadn't change a bit he had long hair and a goatee as usual and

Joey's bedroom was upstairs in an attic type room and he had a very neat set up with posters of his favorite bands, a record player, head phones and many albums. Joey had a great laugh and smile he was a kind cousin with a good sense of humor. When they moved to California then to Illinois I was devastated. Fortunately, I had the chance to spend a week in Ilinois one summer with them where we enjoyed many meals, laughs and good times together. I will always remember Joey as a kind and sweet individual who wouldn't hurt a soul.

As soon as you or him walked through the door, he would always greet you with a smile. He always told everyone how much he loved his life and everyone in it. He had an amazing relationship with all of his peers and staff at safe haven and his day program. He called us all family. Joseph was a wonderful man and he will be missed. I am so sorry for his family and friends.
