This is such a loss not only to the Air Force, but to the family and friends as well.
May God comfort the family and carry them in his arms and be with Col Dawson's soul.
I had the privilege to work for Col Dawson at the 99th CS at Nellis AFB and to get to know Lydia and Breanna.

Our thoughts and prayers pour out to Lydia, Breanna, and the Dawson family! Col Dawson was one of the finest Commanders I ever had in my 25 years of service. He was a fine leader who led from the front and took the time to get to know his people. The Radio/Airfield shop we had during his tenure will surely miss one of the best Airman and Commanders the Air Force ever knew! Col Dawson, you will be truly missed by all!

The world has lost a great man and a hero, but heaven has truly earned back an angel. There are no words that can express how much my mentor meant to me and how devastating a loss this is. God bless you Lydia, Briana, and all of the family. You will forever be in my prayers and the memory of Col Dawson will forever be in my heart!

My thoughts and prayers go out to Lydia, Briana and the entire family. I had the honor of working for Col Dawson as his secretary at the 99th Communications Squadron Nellis AFB NV. Col Dawson was a Great Boss, very genuine, caring and always supportive. May you rest in peace Sir.

As I think about you, I'm reminded of the question often asked...Am I my brother's keeper. You lead by example. You personnally embodied the core values we so often recite as Airmen. You gave of yourself to all whose path you crossed. You are our friend, you are our brother. It is with our deepest sympathy to no longer have you here on earth, but as you rest in eternity, I know your spirit shall continue to live on. We

The Air Force has lost an exemplary leader and the Officer corps has lost a great mentor. Though I left Keesler AFB a few weeks prior to Hurricane Katrina, I firmly believe it was his leadership that enabled the 81CS to successfully respond to the disaster and manage the aftermath.
My deepest condolences to the Dawson family.
