Dear Donna, Artie, Laura, Shari and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Time certainly marches on - it's been 33 years since both our families left Gales Creek, OR. to move to Alaska!
We certainly won't forget Earl's quick witted humor, his mischievous smile or his fiend orneriness! He was a character, a family man at heart and I hope you can be comforted in those memories. Thank you for sharing the video - it brought a smile. I'm thinking

I will always charish the memories of working at the cafe with you all and having Earl "pick" on me every day. It was easy to see how important Earl was to all of you and also to see how much he loved each of you. Although this time after his passing will be difficult, I know that you are an amazing family filled with strength and love that will make it through anything. God Bless

Donna, Laura, Shari and the entire Smith family,
Earl was a character that will leave a lasting impression on the lives of the people he touched. Not seeing him at the R Bar or the Alaska Cafe has been noticable for some time as his illness sapped his strength. He will be greatly missed in our community. May God be with you all and give you strength in the days ahead.
