Virgil A. Unrast, age 73, formerly of North Star, Ohio died on Thursday, December 06, 2012 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, Ohio. He was born March 25, 1939 in North Star to the late Aloys & Marie (Otte) Unrast. He is survived by six brothers and sisters, Leroy & Susie Unrast of Wilcox, Arizona, Velma & Jerry Holdheide of Ft. Loramie, Marvin Unrast of North Star, Marge Wagner of Celina, Bertha & Joe Rosenbeck of New Bremen, and Henry & Anita Unrast of North Star. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Unrast and a brother-in-law, Robert Wagner. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star, the Versailles Knights of Columbus, and Darke County Right to Life. He was a retired school teacher from Coldwater Schools and Holy Angels, Sidney, a former CCD teacher at St. Louis Church, and was a farmer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star, with Fr. David Zink, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, North Star. Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-St. Henry on Monday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Memorial may be directed to Darke County Right to Life. Condolences may be left at

I really miss him.. I remember he teach me how to fed calves and I help a lot of paper drive... And Virgil teach me religion book... He is good help to right to life.. I wish to be act like him

Virgil was such a God filled person who reminded us to always keep praying for our saving grace from God. He was so kind and loving to all here at Brairwood. Thank you for sharing him with us as he became part of our Briarwood Village family. Mary & Norm Zahn

I taught with Virgil for six years at Holy Angels School before I moved to Lehman Catholic. He was a good teacher, mentor and friend.
