Bernetta "Berr" Scott was loved by all who met her. She was born on September 27, 1954 in Dallas, Texas to William and Bernice Scott. She graduated from Richardson High School in 1973 and went on to attend Richland College and graduated. Upon graduation she began working at Northpark National Bank for 23 years. In 1996, Bernetta joined North Dallas Bank and Trust where she served as Banking Officer and Personal Banking Supervisor until she was called home to be with her Lord. Bernetta joined Hamilton Park United Methodist Church as a teenager and spent many years praising the Lord with her beautiful voice. She loved to travel with her choir members and she sang at many weddings and musicals. Bernetta had the opportunity to travel to many places, and she lived life to the fullest and was always ready for an adventure. Left to cherish precious memories are her parents, William and Bernice Scott; five brothers, Willie Paul, Bernard (Vergie), Kernard (Gloria), Eric (Rosalyn), Tim (Grae); sister, Carolyn Kelley (Austin); a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Bernetta, Did not know were ill or that you had passed. Spoke to Margie and asked if she had talked to you because I tried calling and had sent you several emails and not heard back. We worked together at the bank, did business and you even baby sat my kids. Sad to hear of your passing, but I imagine you are in a better place now.

Hi Aunt Berr!!!! Words can't explain how bad I miss you, but my love for you will never fade one bit. The night of your funeral I prayed about you, I said "I miss and love you, amen." After I closed my eyes to doze off I heard a whisper in my ear that said, "I love y'all!" and I suddenly had chills throughout my body and Istarted to smile. I will never forget the times you let us spend the night and you would always go over the safety rules with Brook and I. I still have the dobber you gave me the first time you took Brook and I to play bingo. I remember when you always took us to the movie's and when we came back to grandma and grandpa house, you always quizzed us over the movie. I remember the day you took Brook and I to get our nails done and when you took us to the jewelry galore store where everything was a dollar and you told us to get whatever we wanted and we went crazy. You even picked you up a couple of stuff!!! I love the old times on Easter, when you would dress up as a bunny and we would go search for the eggs and you would stuff some eggs with money. (Bingo money lol) The memories that you and I have shared will always stay close to my heart and I will always cherish. I love and miss you so much Aunt Berr, but I know we will meet again!!!!

Its been one week today Berr that you went to Heaven to be with God. I still and will always miss you very much but like Eric said at your wake,God wanted you more and we must accept that and move on with our lives. I know the hurt I still have will eventually go away, but I still miss you and love you very much. You always use to win jackpots playing bingo. Well you won the biggest jackpot of all time Berr! You in Heaven now! God has made a place for you where the streets are paved in gold! We will see each other again my sweet sister. Much love from your little brother Tim,Grae and Little T,Brooklyn,Brealyn and Kristlyn.

Life Stories

I visited with Bernetta many times when I came into the North Dallas Bank. She was always professional, yet friendly. She and I both love to talk and one day we discovered that one of the first people she worked with at another bank was my son-in-law's grandfather. The same grandfather who was his father substitute who taught him beautiful manners and to be considerate of others. She said that he asked a special favor of her--- to call him by his first name. She told him that her parents always said to address older people as Mr., but that if he insisted she would call him by his first name. They were two colleagues who really like each other reaching across generations and skin color. She always wanted to meet his great grandchildren and to my everlasting sorrow I never got around to bringing them in to meet her. Always do a thing now for we never know when we will be too late to do it. You were a wonderful woman, friend Bernetta, and you are now where you should be. With love and condolences to her family, Gwen
