George "Wilbur" Pitts, 90 of Ruther Glen, Virginia passed peacefully at his home, Friday, February 9, 2018. Born in Caroline, he was the son of the late Gladys Bruce Pitts and Leslie Pitts. He is a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, had owned and operated Pitts & Sons Auto in Bowling Green for 18 years, and was known as the "Veggie Man" at Rite Aid shopping center for many years. Survivors include his children, Carole Pitts and Todd Pitts; grandchildren, Kristy Seal, Troy Thomas, Ashley Alden Pitts, Ashley Middlebrook, Cody Pitts, Dylan Pitts and Emma Pitts; great-grandchildren, Devin Dunnington, Chase Seal, Brittany Johnson, Hunter Thomas, Holden Thomas, Tori Thomas and Landon Middlebrook; his former wife of 32 years, Edith Garnett Pitts; a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children, Toni Lynn Pitts and Ronnie Pitts, as well as a brother, Marvin Pitts. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department.
