Ruth Annette Brann Scott, 98, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2017. She was born in Village, Virginia, on May 13, 1919 to John William and Maude Cralle Brann. She attended Callao High School and Westhampton College. Ruth was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Susie Sommers, Bernard Brann, William Brann, Raymond Brann, and Franklin Brann, and by her husbands Robert James Scott and George Leonard Keckler. She is survived by her children Robert James Scott, Jr. (Karen), Ann Lankey, Mary Lynn Scott, and Deborah Biddle (Ron), and by her stepsons, George Keckler, Jr., and Robert Keckler and their families. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren Rebecca Blackmon, Kerin Mokarem (Shadi), Ira Hammes, Asa Hammes, Mark Hammes, and Molly Martling (Daniel), and her great-grandchildren Huit Blackmon, Leila Mokarem, Max Mokarem, and James Mokarem. She enjoyed the love and friendship of her many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.Ruth lived her life with great enthusiasm, moving with Robert and their family to various Veterans Hospitals throughout his career .After her family was raised, she enjoyed traveling around the country and the world, both solo and with George. She played bridge and mah jongg, read voraciously, and attended as many cultural events as she could. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. North Chesterfield, VA 23234.Visitation will be at Morrissett on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on December 8, 2017 with interment at Hollywood Cemetery at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
