Alison Taylor Farmer, 19, of Williamsburg, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 5., 2012.

Alison (Ally) is survived by her parents, Bernard and Deborah Farmer, and her beloved sister, Katherine (Kate) Farmer. She is also survived by her grandmother, Irene Leonard; her uncle, Michael Leonard; and cousin, Jessica Leonard, all of Nashua, NH; her aunt and uncle, Stephanie and Fred Goodman; cousins, Stephen and Michele Goodman, Melissa and Sam de Souza of Potomac, MD; and cousin, Mary Harding, of Cincinnati, OH.

Alison was a 2011 graduate of Lafayette High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the varsity volleyball team.

She was often known to provide a birthday treat for a friend, tutor a special education student, provide leadership as a member of the Rambassadors, or excel in one of her many academic pursuits.

Alison was also a member of the Hampton Roads Juniors Volleyball Club and the Williamsburg Warriors Lacrosse Club. She was studying at Thomas Nelson Community College, where she was preparing for a career as a special education teacher, a passion of hers.

Alison's infectious smile and animated spirit made her the life of any occasion, though she was known to relish the spotlight herself. A viewing will be held Friday evening, Aug. 10 at 5:30 p.m.at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alison's honor may be made to the Heritage Humane Society.
