Ann Gildersleeve Sloan of Williamsburg died on September 2, 2012. Born in Gildersleeve, CT, she was the wife of USAF Chaplain Lt. Col. Robert A. Sloan, who died in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Allan Sloan Jr. A graduate of Wykeham Rise in Washington, CT and Smith College in Northampton, MA, Mrs. Sloan lived in Williamsburg, VA for 21 years. She is survived by her children, Susan Sloan Dugan (Barry) of Williamsburg, VA, John Byxbee Sloan of Rock Hill, SC, Peter Carson Sloan (Mary) of Stevensville, MD and daughter-in-law, Pam Sloan of Myrtle Beach, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karen Dugan, Kelli Dugan, Maryann Sloan, Cary Pall, Daniel Sloan, Christopher Sloan and Jacob Sloan. A service of Thanksgiving for her life will be celebrated at Hickory Neck Episcopal Church in Toano on Friday, September 7 at 11am. Interment will take place in Portland, CT at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to FISH, 312 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185, the Hickory Neck Church Building Fund, 8300 Richmond Road, Toano, VA 23168, or to your charity of choice.
