I'm so glad that you & Sue were able to spend time with us. We'll always remember our trips to Brigantine, Sprinkle Shack and to Hallock's--who picks 80 pounds of tomatoes, 30 pounds of peppers and many pounds of onions--we do--for you & Sue!!!! We may be down one "picker", but there won't be a tomato we pick that we won't think of you.

I'm glad Skip had the role model he had-it helped to make him the man and husband that he is today.

Would just like to say 'THANK YOU' big brother
For taking the time to teach
For it was you who set the goals
For us to eventually reach.

Spackle, electrical or fix a car
Are a few on the list of many
Helping me clean my first engine
With the help of Dad's steam jenny.

No smoking, drugs or life of crime
Many good memories and they're all mine
Always ready to lend a hand
Next to you I am proud to stand.

A cherry bomb here, a whistling jupe there
Made Bill and I a formidable pair
'Just missed' that you thought was poor aim
Was designed for more years to play the game.

To produce a high level of fear
Was desirable, necessary and just
To utilize God's greatest inventions
Chlorate, Sulphur and of course Zinc dust.

And even though you are of kin
The thought of attack produced a grin
We loved to see you run pell mell

Rest easy Art, you easily raised the level for the meaning of 'Big Brother'

It was the fall of 1949. Art and I met in JHS. We were both interested in electronics and radio and we had both taken a class in electricity under our shop teacher Mr. Benson King. As it turned out we both decided to make crystal sets. That is how it began and how we became friends. Over the next few years we became fast friends and decided to get our Amateur Radio Licenses. We really had no one to

It was the fall of 1949. Art and I met in JHS. We were both interested in electronics and radio and we had both taken a class in electricity under our shop teacher Mr. Benson King. As it turned out we both decided to make crystal sets. That is how it began and how we became friends. Over the next few years we became fast friends and decided to get our Amateur Radio Licenses. We really had no one to turn to for help so we began to study with each other. Art and I taught each other the Morse Code and asked each other questions out of the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) license manual. It took us a couple of years to get proficient enough to take the test. When the day came early in 1953 we traveled together by trolley to Montclair where we got on the Erie Lackawanna RR for the trip to Hoboken and then rode the ferry over to Cortland Street NYC and walked to the FCC building on Washington St. We passed our Novice test and a year or so later we retraced our trip to take the General Class License test. Over the years we have stayed in touch either by radio or on the phone. In the Summer of 1961 my wife and I attended Art and Sue's wedding in Verona. In year 2000 Art and Sue visited us in Palm Bay, FL and although Art and I were proficient in electronics because of our education and employment neither of us had ever upgraded to Amateur Extra Class, the highest class of license a "Ham" operator can attain to. So, again we visited the Volunteer Examiner Class in Melbourne, Florida together and took our Amateur Extra Class license exam nearly 50 years after first becoming "Hams" together in NJ. That's our story. Art, maybe God will let us put up a tower and a tri-band beam in Heaven. See you there Buddy, 73's for now.

To the McComas Family,

I am deeply saddened by Mr. M's passing. He was a great mentor who encouraged me and taught me many things over the years. His wit and sense of humor were like no other. He was definitely one of my heroes growing up, and I will certainly miss him.
