Benny N. Shopoff, 86, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born January 30, 1926 to Naum (Nick) Shopoff and Stasa (Stella) Christoff, immigrants from Macedonia. He was a member of the Elks for 60 yrs, and everyone who knew him, knew golfing was his life. After graduation from Central H S, where he played football and was known as "Big Benny". He joined the Navy in 1944 and served on an LST in the Pacific during WW II. Benny married N. Louise Lovely, April 11, 1948 in Fort Wayne IN. He worked as a Driver at the Sunshine Dairy, which became People's Dairy, and was ultimately owned by Allen Dairy where he retired in 1987. Surviving are his daughter, Karen S. Malone-Foltz of New Haven, IN; grandson, Marc Malone of Fishers IN; great-grandson Ryan (Katie) Malone and great-granddaughter Kylee Malone of Fort Wayne, great-grandson Sam Malone of Fishers IN and two great-great grandchildren Emma and Cullen of Fort Wayne. Also surviving is his best friend, golf partner and brother, Tom Shopoff of Fort Wayne, IN. Benny was preceded in death by wife, Neva Louise (Lovely) Shopoff in 2005, parents Nick and Stella Shopoff, sister, Sophia (Sally) Shopoff, brother Peter Shopoff, great-great grandson Cooper Jayden Malone and dear friend Char Bierbaum. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home, and the warm and caring nursing staff at Parkview Memorial Regional Center. Heartfelt thanks to the special group of volunteers that sit bedside 24 hours a day with all Hospice patients whose motto is "Nobody dies alone". Funeral Service is Sunday, 2:00 pm, January 27, 2013 at D. O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with visitation one hour prior. Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Visitation will also be Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
