Beverly D. "Cotton" Crews, 83, of Highland Springs passed away Friday, June 8, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Crews. He is survived by his son, Jerry Crews; daughter, Carolyn Roark and husband, Charlie Roark; grandchildren, Danielle Crews and Ryan Roark.
"Cotton" served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He received his GED, was a licensed pipefitter and instructor, went before the legislature to fight for Organized Union Rights and had a great passion for antique and classic cars. He was a member of the VFW, Sandston American Legion, Union Local 10, Virginia Street Rods and the Masons. He battled with many health issues for several years. He is finally "on the wrong side of the grass". He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 11, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be held at the same location Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11AM. Interment will be at Washington Memorial Park.
