She was a designer for many years for Badische Corporation, following which she lived her dream of becoming a pet sitter. She had a passion for animals, in particular cats, and was responsible for the rescue of hundreds. She volunteered at Heritage Humane Society at its beginning and helped take care of feral cat colonies in the Williamsburg area.
Carolyn was a member of Olive Branch Christian Church and graduated from Denbigh High School. She was blessed with artistic abilities and loved to paint.
Survivors include a sister, Judy Eley of Williamsburg; two brothers, Vince Mason and his wife, Rose, and Boyce Mason of Williamsburg; several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews; and eleven of her beloved cats.
A memorial service will be held at Olive Branch Christian Church, 7643 Richmond Rd, Toano on January 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Rd, Williamsburg, VA 23185. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
