Charles William Baltz, Jr. of Ashland, VA born on May 26, 1929 and was present with the Lord on November 23, 2012. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles W. Baltz, Sr. and Rose Anna Grove Powell, and a son, Curtis Wayne Baltz. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 ½ years, Jean Rye Baltz, their children Carol B. Norman, Charles W. Baltz III and Cynthia B. McCreary (John), grandchildren Brian and Scott Norman; Katie and Louis Baltz; John Patrick and Kayla McCreary and a great granddaughter, Emery Rose Baltz. Charles retired from C&P Telephone Company after 38 years of service. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1947 – 1950. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Ashland, a member of Independence Ruritan Club for 50 years and the Ashland Rescue Squad. He was a passionate hunter, gardener and outdoor enthusiast. He loved sharing these adventures with his children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. and funeral service on November 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church-Ashland, 800 Thompson Street with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Richmond. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church.
