Clarence Watts Kyle born June 17, 1919 at Coolwell in Amherst Co., to the late William David and Florence W. Kyle. He passed away August 4, 2012 in Ashland, Virginia. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William D., Ernest P. and Henry B. Kyle; five sisters, Bessie Johnson, Ruby Sherrod, Mary Shanholtz, Pearl Coffey, and Katharine W. Kyle; and a step son William "Randy" Trent. He was the widower of Dolores A. Kyle, and is survived by his wife of 40 years, Olive D. Kyle, son William W. Kyle (Brenda), daughter Mary K. Smith (Eddie), stepson Thomas M. Trent, six grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Kyle was a member of First Baptist Church, Ashland VA., having joined in 1972. He was a member of the Elmont Ruritan Club for 50 years. He was a Western Auto Dealer in Ashland for thirty years. After retiring from his Western Auto business he was a tax preparer for twenty-one years. Mr. Kyle was in the United States Navy during WW II for two years on the USS Bogue, Radarman 3rd Class. The family will receive visitors on Monday, August 6, from 6 – 8:30 pm at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel 412 South Washington Hwy., Ashland VA. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church Ashland. Burial at Woodland Cemetery, Ashland, VA 23005. A special thanks to the staff of the Ashland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church (Future Building Fund) Ashland, VA 23005.
