Clyde Lester Bennett, Sr., 72, of Lanexa passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at his home. Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Bennett Briggs. Clyde was retired crew supervisor for the City of Hopewell with thirty years of service and a member of the National Guard of Virginia for five years. He is survived by his wife, Sandra N. Bennett, a son, Clyde Lester “Benny” Bennett, Jr., six grandchildren, Nathan and Alison Weagley, Nicole, Brannon, Collin and Alexis Bennett, a brother, Gerald Bennett, two sisters, Carrie Long and Maxine Ames, a great granddaughter, McKenzie Goff, also numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA and where funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, May 13, 2011 with Rev. Bert Duckwall officiating. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery
