Hayes: Daniel Joseph Penyak, 74, died April 2, 2012 at his home after a long illness. He was born in Danbury, Connecticut to Mary and Stanley Penyak. He was a 1956 graduate of Danbury High School and was Captain of Wooster Hose & Volunteer Company #5 in Danbury for many years and was a true Yankees fan. Dan was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where he served as a Cantor and sang in the choir. He was a recipient in 1994 of the Old Timers Athletic Association Special Award for more than two decades of coaching baseball and basketball. He was associated with several local car dealerships where he made many friends.
He is survived by:

Children: Richard and wife Lynn
Robert
Elizabeth
Roberta and husband Namen
6 grandchildren
2 great grandchildren
Brother: Duane Penyak and wife Lorraine
A Memorial Mass officiated by Reverend Michael Joly will be held Monday, April 9, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown.
On Friday, April 13, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter Church in Danbury, Connecticut. Inurnment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Sentara Hospice staff for the loving care and support given to Dan and his family.
