Daysha S. Jurgens-Thorpe, 15, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a period of visitation one hour prior to the services, and following the services. A memorial fund has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the web @ www.gayandciha.com.

Daysha Shanice Jurgens-Thorpe was born November 20, 1996, in Davenport, Iowa. She had just finished her freshman year at City High School, and was looking forward to her sophomore year in the fall. She enjoyed anything to do with art, her friends, and her family.

Her family includes her mother, Nicole Rae Jurgens; father, Demond Allen Thorpe; sisters, Samiya Batie and Demara Thorpe; brothers, Christopher Monthomery, Chaz Thorpe and Keiran Thorpe; grandmothers, Jacqueline Jurgens and Ollie Thorpe; grandfathers, Mark Harris and Jerry Lewis; aunts, Sabrina Harris, Tara Thorpe, Charlotte Casing, Wendi Rooks, Melanie Torres, and Emma Corruthers; uncles, Delaine Thorpe, Dey Thorpe, John Thorpe, Christopher Johnson, and Kalandis McNeil; and her nephew, Chaverez Thorpe.
