Donald James Brooks, 83, Indianapolis passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born September 4, 1929 in Indianapolis to Daniel and Bertha Brooks.
Don had served as an Indianapolis Firefighter Station 18 retiring in 1975, VanAusdall and Farrar Office Machine Retiring in 2005. Don was a United States Army Veteran honorably serving in the early 1950's. He had been a member of Eagle Valley Church of Christ over 20 years. Don enjoyed tinkering with anything and loved being with family and friends.
Donald is survived by his wife Mayzelle; children, Jim Brooks, (Donna), Kay McCurry, and Eugene Griggs, (Janice); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 10, 2012 at Flanner and Buchanan-Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. with visitation Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2:00 until 6:00 P.M. and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Indianapolis Firefighter's or Diabetes Association.
