Donald R. Kennedy, 83, of Williamsburg, died on September 3, 2012.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Elizabeth Trible Kennedy; his daughters, Janice Kennedy, of Dallas, TX, and Donna Vallone and her husband, Joseph, of Salem, OR; as well as four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Don graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where he served as Senior Class President. He later earned his Master's in Public Administration from Golden Gate University and proudly served in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lt. Colonel after 25 years.

Don was a member for over 55 years of the Alamo Masonic Lodge, San Antonio, TX, a charter member of the Norlan Shrine Club, and a member of the Aloha Shrine Temple. He belonged to the Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club, and served as president of both the Lancaster County Lions Club and the Northern Neck Rotary Club. Don was an avid, skilled golfer, and a talented artist. He had many friends and was loved by all.

A celebration of life is planned for the fall. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rappahannock Art League, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, VA 22482. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
