Dorothy E. Spratley, 80, of Williamsburg, passed away on June 11, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Spratley, Sr., her son, Henry Spratley, Jr., and her brothers, Jerry Morning and Frank Morning, Sr.
Dorothy was employed by the Williamsburg School System in the food service area. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, and she loved spending time with them and with her friends.
She is survived by her son, John D. Morning, Sr. (Romella); her daughters, Christine Johnson-Nieves (David); and Rosemary Thomas (Clayton); seven grandchildren, Shalanda Nunn, Latitia Parson, Taylor Morning, John D. Morning, Jr., Clayton Spratley, Melody Thomas, and Wallace Johnson; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her brother, John Morning; and sister-in-laws, Delores Morning and Hazel Flood.
A service will be held on Friday, June 15, at 2:00 PM, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4002 Ironbound Rd, Williamsburg, VA, followed by interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House, 4445 Powhatan Pkwy, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com.
