Edward C. “Eddie” Rigsby, 55, of Hopewell passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in the MCV Medical Center. Edward was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Rigsby and nephew, Bryce M. Tolson. Mr. Rigsby was retired from the Pipe Fitters Union, Local #638, New York City and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lena E. Rigsby, three sons, Charles R. Rigsby, Joseph S. Rigsby and Chase E. Rigsby and his wife, Christan, a daughter, Stephanie Stables and her husband, Jeff, three grandchildren, Bree and Haley Stables, Natalie Grace Rigsby, his mother, Louise Roach Rigsby, three sisters, Brenda R. Mathews, Bonnie R. Harrison and her husband, Larry, Barbara R. Tolson and her husband, Troy, two nieces, Jessica M. Hudson and her husband, Thomas, Rebekkah B. Tolson, two nephews, Dustin Harrison and Trevor Tolson, a great nephew, Thomas H. Hudson, IV, also many dedicated cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell, VA. A memorial service will be conducted 4:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Andrews officiating. Interment will be private.
