My mother was Edward's oldest sister, Marion. I have such fond memories of visiting my grandmother's farm when I was growing up. We went frequently, usually on Sundays and I would usually go in the summer and spend a week or two when my cousin Kam and her family came to visit. Her mother was Edward's sister Annie. Edward was sometimes visiting at the same time and we used to play cards at night at the kitchen table. There was for me always an aura of adventure and mystery about Edward. I thought his life was full of exotic travel and discovery! I hope it was! The old farm house was full of bedrooms (16 children!) and a spacious basement with a great big old wood cooking stove. There were pigs and lots of chickens! And plenty of cows too. There was a great big old barn and other storage buildings and so many big fields of corn and potatoes. There were apple and peach trees and walnut and pecan trees. It was truly a beautiful place and I'm so glad I was fortunate enough to know it when it was still a working farm. Edward was always very kind to me and I was proud to be his neice. The service held for Edward was exceptionally nice. The church was a beautiful place and the reception after was certainly very nicely done. I'm sure he would have been very, very proud. I'm so glad I was able to be there. Paw Paw, thank you for always treating me with love and kindness. You taught me how to give selflessly to others and live with honor. I will miss you and think of all the times I spent with you and Grandma Viola at your home in Luray.
