HAGGARD, Elizabeth Roberts Waldrip Patton, 92, a longtime resident of New Orleans, and a recent resident of Heritage Oaks Retirement Community, died June 20, 2012 at Manor Care in Henrico, Lakeside, Virginia. She was preceded in death by parents, Asa Milton Waldrip and Vida Martha Roberts; sister, Mary Louise Johnson; brother, Edmund Asa Waldrip; husband, Wesley Burton Haggard, a retired U.S. Navy veteran; former spouse, Norvel Lloyd Patton. She is survived by four children, Suzanne Martha Williams of Frederick, Md., Penelope Gay Warner, son-in-law, The Rev. David M. Warner of Richmond, Va., Norvel Lloyd Patton Jr. of Hong Kong and Ronald Edmund Patton and daughter-in -law, Chantal Patton of Germany; nine grandchildren, Sheryl Kimerling of Birmingham, Ala., Camille Havelka and Suzanne O'Hara of Cypress, Texas, Gregory Williams of Frederick, Md., William Shuff of Philadelphia, Eric Williams of New York and Meika Pope of Burlingame, Calif., and Christopher and Ben Patton of Germany; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haggard was a 1940 graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans and Stephens College in 1976. She retired in 1982 from the VA Hospital in New Orleans and then continued working as a psychiatric nurse, her preferred specialty. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church, Mechanicsville. Final arrangements made through the Cremation Society of Virginia.
