Johnson, Elizabeth "Taddy" Redd, 96, of Beaverdam, Virginia, died peacefully on March 22, 2012, at her home in Richmond. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Andrew Walton Redd and the late Bessie Arnold Redd of Beaverdam. She is survived by a daughter, Annetta "Netsy" Johnson Kelly; a son, Henry Augustus Johnson Jr., his wife, Jane Sternheimer Johnson; two grandchildren, Lavinia Lindsay Johnson and Nathan Walton Johnson; two sisters, Linnae Belle "Dormez" Redd Hedgbeth of Salem, Virginia, and Dr. Loretto "Snookie" Redd Auvil of Parkersburg, West Virginia; a brother, John Llewellyn Redd of Tampa, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Augustus Johnson; two sisters, Lavinia Lindsay Redd and Lydia Arnold Redd, and three brothers, Andrew Walton Redd Jr., James Thomas Redd and William Coleman Redd. The third of eight siblings to graduate from Randolph-Macon College, Ashland, Virginia, Mrs. Johnson maintained lifelong friendships through the Old Grads of R-MC. She worked as an actuary and was a pioneer in data-processing, programming and systems analysis. She enjoyed memberships in the DAR, APVA, American Legion Auxiliary, Beaverdam Methodist Church, Association for the Preservation of the Beaverdam Depot (APBD), and especially her beloved Bridge Club in Beaverdam. If desired, memorial contributions would be welcomed by the APBD at P.O. Box 86, Beaverdam, Va. 23015. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, on Sunday, March 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Monday, with burial at Woodland Cemetery immediately following.
