Elmer "Leon" Probasco, 75, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 3:27 P.M. Monday February 18, 2013 at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in Bay Pines, FL. He was born February 7, 1938, at his home in Grant Township, IL, the son of Elmer McKinley and Opal Marie (Lane) Probasco. He married Carol (Perret) Szostek and later married Georgann (Costigan) Probasco. He then married Ginny (Fix) Probasco, who preceded him in death.
Leon is survived by his three daughters, Anne (Waid) Boten of Naperville, IL, Debbie (Jason) Shonkwiler of Monticello, IL and Jennifer "Nickie" (Donnie) Tweedy of Burkesville, KY; four sons, Mark Probasco of Huntington Beach, CA, Paul Costigan of Sonoma, CA, Ryan (Tiffany) Queen of Fort Mill, S.C. and Ty (Monica) Queen of Peru, IN; three sisters, Louise Murdock of Danville, IL, Thelma Frederick of Hoopeston, IL and Martha (Jim) Murdock of Arcadia, FL; 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his longtime loving companion Linda Klemm, her daughter Brandy Davis and her 3 children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Grace and Doris; and three brothers, Everett Dale, Don and Orville.
Leon worked at Hyster in Danville. He later worked at Food Machinery Corporation in Hoopeston until his retirement. Leon served in the United States Navy from 1955-1959. He attended the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston. Leon enjoyed socializing with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed the time he was able to spend with Ronnie Lane, Steve Fix and Jim Murdock in Florida. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards and watching Nascar. Leon was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini.
