Elton Daniel "Cracker Jack" Pate, 52, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Elton was born in Wayne County on May 30, 1960 to Carolyn Lancaster Pate and A.H. ( Buddy) Pate, Jr. He was a truck driver with D and B Trucking.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Anderson Pate; daughters, Carolyn Nicole Pate of Havelock, Lindsey P. McClelland and David of Jacksonville, Samantha Mozingo of Garner, Heather Reid of Havelock and Tabatha Lorenzo of Pikeville; and grandchildren, Tyson Dickens, R.J. Shoulars, Aiden McClelland, Mariah Mozingo and Dylan Mozingo. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Pate Hinnant of Wendell; nephew, Jason Hinnant and niece, Alison Hinnant.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
