Foster A. "Fats" Spaid, 76, of Avonmore, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at his home.
Born January 21, 1937 in Irvona, PA, he was the son of the late Lloyd Spaid & Thelma (Kline) Spaid.
Fats lived in Avonmore most of his life, and served our country with the United States Army. He worked at the Avonmore Foundry as a molder for more than 20 years, last working in 1982. Fats was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and boating.
In addition to his parents, Fats was preceded in death by his wife: Barbara J. (Shearer) Spaid, who passed away 5-2-1998, brother: Lloyd "Bud" Spaid, and an infant brother Lloyd.
Fats is survived by his daughters: Debbie (David) Rader of Nowrytown, Paula Lucas of Indiana, PA, Brenda (William) Smith of Shelocta, PA, son: Terry (Jessica) Spaid of Avonmore, grandchildren: David, Cody, Shawn & Cassidy, Chelsey, great grandchildren: Bryce "Peanut" and Mason "Squirt", sisters:
Ruth "Footsie" Miller of North Apollo, Jean (Doug) Armburst of North Huntingdon, Eva (Ray) Cornman of Clarksburg, PA, Kathy (Robert) Bowman of Avonmore, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, February 8, 2013 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service takes place Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment in Elders Ridge Cemetery, Elders Ridge.
