Carroll, Frances Corene Peay, also known as "Mama Carroll" of Varina, passed away on June 26, 2012 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Fred H. Carroll, daughter, Helen C. Carroll and son, Raymond W. Carroll. Corene was a lifelong member of Fort Lee Baptist Church, member of the Montrose Chapter #176 Order of Eastern Star and member of Kings Daughters and Sons. Corene retired from Henrico County after driving a school bus for 35 years. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Frances E. Carroll and Lelia C. Lampkin (Robert); her sons, Marvin E., Winston D., and James G. Carroll, Sr. (Kelly) and daughter-in-law Terri. Corene has 11 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Lee Baptist Church with interment to follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Henrico County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 911, Sandston, VA 23150. Online condolences may be made at www.nelsencares.com.
