Gail Thorley (Jochum) Blacklock, 69, of Rotterdam, New York, passed away on November 21, 2012, surrounded by her husband, children, siblings and friends. Gail was born May 1, 1943, in Flushing, New York, and was a graduate of Huntington High School. She was the daughter of Henry L. Jochum Jr., and Jane C. Cocklin, devoted wife of the Reverend Charles W. Blacklock, loving mother of Scott L. Homer and Kevin B. Homer of Scotia, caring sister of Glenn H. Jochum of Laurel and Beth C. Jochum of Schodack Landing, and cherished grandmother of Amanda, Gryphon and Phoenix, beloved aunt of Nicole and Brandon. Gail worked for twenty years with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. She was an avid gardener and lover of nature, cats, music, theatre and all things Elvis Presley.
She especially loved travelling with her husband Charles, including trips to Scotland and across country, and her favorite local destinations - Lake Placid and Long Island.She always put others before herself and had a great gift for telling stories about her many friends and family members, making others laugh, and being the family matriarch, historian and the strong hands that held her circle of love together. Funeral Services will be Saturday November 24, 2012 at 2PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 1911 Fairview Avenue Schenectady. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours by request. Inurnment will be at Parkview Crematory. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home Broadway and Guilderland Avenue Schenectady.
