Garmann A. Hansen, 66, of Williamsburg and formerly of Chicago, IL passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 with his wife, Marilyn, by his side.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and was wounded while in training to serve in the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable medical discharge and then enlisted with the Army National Guard serving from 1966 until 1975 in Spokane, WA.

He completed his education in Coeur d'Alene, ID before beginning his career with United Airlines in Spokane, WA. He transferred to Chicago in 1981 where he worked as an Operations Manager for United Airlines at O'Hare Airport. Following his retirement, Garmann and Marilyn relocated to Williamsburg in 2003. He was a Tour Director for Colonial Connections in Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown for nine years. He was also a volunteer for the Red Cross, CERT and the Salvation Army and an Amateur Ham Radio Operator.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn; his daughter, Karlene; two grandchildren, Zachary and Kathlynne; and his sister, Barbara. He was blessed to be loved by his relatives that reside in Newport News, Burke, Va, and in Canada. Garmann was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Carl Hansen.

A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 612 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg on Tuesday, September 11 at 3 PM.
