Garth Meyers, 92, current resident of Longwood, Florida and formerly a longtime resident of Winter Park Florida, was called home to be with the Lord on December 8,2012.
He was born on March 3, 1920 in Baltimore Maryland. and married Dorothy Rossing on June 23, 1941. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. Upon his military discharge he began employment with the Martin Marietta Company in Baltimore. In 1957 he moved his family to Orlando to continue employment with this company. He graduated with a bachelors degree from Rollins College and continued his career in management of the Quality Control department for Martin Marietta, He retired after 47 years. He was an active member of the Retried Association of Martin Marietta, an active volunteer for the Orlando Science Center and a life time member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park, Florida.
He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years on August 2, 2008. He is survived by his 5 children. John (Nancy) Meyers of Baltimore Maryland; Margy (Lee) Byers of Hudson Florida; Marc (Barbara) Meyers of Maitland, Florida; Melanie (John) McGriff of Smyrna, Georgia; Mike (Denise) Meyers of Cypress, Texas; eleven grandchildren: Jayson Meyers, Corey Meyers, Brad Byers, Robyn Byers Reidenbach, Heather Byers McClellan, Ryan Meyers, Taylor Meyers, Katie Conway Duesenberg, Trey Conway, Sommer Meyers and Morgan Meyers; two step grandchildren Heather Randall, and Jeffrey Weissberg, and 9 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother Harold Meyers, Baltimore Maryland.
The services will be held on Wednesday December 12, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park Florida, Interlachen Avenue. Visitation will begin at One O'Clock in the afternoon with church services to follow at Two o'clock.
In lieu of flowers an expression of sympathy may be made to the Russell Home for Atypical children on Holden Avenue, Orlando Florida. Or a charity of your choosing.
