Gordon P. Wilson "Pete", 70, of Varina went to be with our Lord on September 3, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Sandra C. Wilson; his children, Sherry Tuck (Robert), Tina Ford (Scott), Michael Wilson (Jennifer); grandchildren, Megan and Forrest Ford, Ashley and Brittany Otey, and Owen Wilson; brothers, Buddy Wilson (Ruby) and Ronnie Wilson; sisters, Ruth Marciniak and Kathleen Smith (Billy); and numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Snider, and brothers, Douglas Wilson (Kay) and Joe Wilson (Jean). Gordon was retired from the Virginia Army/Air National Guard as a Human Resource Officer with 29 years of service, obtaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was an avid bowler, golfer, hunter and fisherman. He was a deacon and faithful member of New Bridge Baptist Church where he grew in his walk with the Lord. The family would like to thank their special support friends, our families and church family for their love and prayers during Gordon's battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. The family will receive friends from 2:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S Laburnum Ave. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at New Bridge Baptist Church 5701 Elko Road, Sandston, VA 23150. Burial will follow in Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Bridge Baptist Church Global/Partnership Missions.
