Helen G. "Grammie" Hughes, 88 of Varina, departed this life on Thursday, August 2, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Clifford Hughes. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Garcia (Mike) and Paula Harris (Ben); grandchildren, Wendy Beazley (Johnny), Stephanie Anderson (Andy), Charles Bonner IV; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Kayla, Kenzie, Kori, Tyler, Tinsley; and many devoted friends at Haven Assisted Living. Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashcake Volunteer Rescue Squad, 8375 New Ashcake Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.
