Irene (Ewell) Hutchinson, 77 of Rockland died on November 21, 2012 at the South Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health. She was born in Hingham, daughter of the late Ralph and Margaret (O'Reilly) Ewell.
A longtime Rockland resident she prided herself as a selfless homemaker caring for her children and grandchildren. Irene had an extensive doll and plate collection.
She was the wife of William A. Hutchinson for the past 55 years and the mother of William A. Hutchinson, Paula M. Mahoney and Irene J. Hackenson all of Rockland, Paul J. Hutchinson of Whitman and the late Mark W. Hutchinson and Barbara A. Clarke. Sister of the late Dotty Fitzgerald, Ralph Ewell, Shirley McNeil and Rita Ballou she is survived by her siblings Alice Schirmer of Weymouth, Gerry Crowell and Peggy Ewell both of S. Boston, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was also the dear friend of the late Fulvia "Fuffi" Bailey and Ann Weixler.
The Hutchinson family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate her life on Monday November 26, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home 135 Union St. in Rockland. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday November 27, 2012 by the Rev. Kristy Coburn at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. After cremation burial will be private.
