Vaughan, James Franklin "Papa", 83, of Beaverdam, passed away on Wed. December 14, 2011. He was preceded in death by Virginia Faye. He is survived by his wife, Terry Vaughan; daughters, Robin Nash and her husband, Danny; and Patricia Johnson and her husband, Roy; a granddaughter, Amanda Stern and her husband, Zach; four great-grandchildren; close family friends, Myrtle Alexander, Melissa Smith, Jason Alexander, Tim Miller, and special NASCAR buddy, Barry Tignor. He served his country for eight years in the Navy. Part of that time was spent on the USS Staten Island as an Ice Breaker in Alaska. He was a diesel mechanic, retired from Berman & Sons.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 19, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland. A service will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11:00 am at Beaverdam Baptist Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
