James H. Persinger, Jr., 72, of Hopewell passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 in John Randolph Medical Center. Mr. Persinger was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Wanda Persinger. James was retired from Sears, an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy S. Persinger, daughter, Kathie Whitlow and her husband, Leo (Buddy), two grandsons, Jason Crouch and his wife Melissa and Nathan Crouch and his wife, Belinda, four brothers, Harry Marvin, Charles and Pete Persinger, also numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 N. 6th Avenue, Hopewell and where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, April 12, 2010 with Dr. James E. Maggard and Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens.
