Jessie C. Banton, 77, of Williamsburg, passed away on January 5, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie F. Banton Sr.
Mrs. Banton worked for James City County at the Matthew Whaley School for 22 years. She had also been a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ since 1975. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
She will be missed by her children, Melanie Wood (Kenneth) and Willie Banton Jr. (Renee); her grandchildren, Amanda Meekins (Jason), Angela Brooks (Edward), Crystal Wood and Jacob Banton; her great-grandchildren, Cadence and Dakota; her sister, Katherine Via (Ike); and her brother, Calvin Wilkerson (Dale).
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 7 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd., Williamsburg. Funeral services will be held at Nelsen Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 8 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
