John D. Collum, 77 of Bowling Green died Wednesday June 20, 2012.
Born in North Carolina, he had retired as a meat cutter with Safeway after 33 years. He was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Bowling Green Vol. Rescue Squad.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Collum; four children, Janelle "Gay" Born and her husband Doug of Poquoson, John W. Collum of San Diego, Grayland Collum of Quinton and Melissa Wyatt and her husband Dale of Richmond; a brother, Jimmy Collum and sister Nelta Rose Blackmon both of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Daniel and Erik Mills and Ryan and Anna Collum; four step grandchildren, Sarah Wyatt, Erin King, Jarred Born and Nicole Bowser and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Janelle Collum and a brother, Charles Collum.
A funeral service will be held Saturday June 23rd at 2:00 PM in Calvary Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Storke Funeral Home; Friday 7:00 – 9:00 PM.
