John Duncan McCoy, 64, of Channelview, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 3, 2013. He was born February 4, 1948, in Teague, Texas, to John Howard McCoy and Lea Bertha (Burleson) McCoy. Mr. McCoy attended Lee College and started an Italian restaurant at the age of nineteen. That restaurant is still operating to this day. Mr. McCoy was also a lifetime member of The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Besides his family, he enjoyed being outdoors and hunting, fishing and playing golf. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Lillian Withers McCoy and John Francis McCoy and Bertha Burleson and Otis Burleson; Mr. McCoy is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Peggy Lynn (Francis) McCoy; his son, John Keith McCoy and wife, Kristen Nicole, of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Amy Cortez and husband, Danny, also of Cypress; grandchildren, Kollins Reese McCoy, Cooper Cortez, Kate Cortez and Kase Cortez; sisters, Gail Leake and Melody Waggoner; and many other loving friends and family members.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, for a memorial service in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home, with Reverend Jim Barclift officiating.
