HILLTOP – John Houston "Hollywood" Myles, 44, of Hilltop, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 of injuries received in a coal mining accident.
Born on March 7, 1968 at Beckley, he was the son of Isadora Bennett Stover and the late Robert Thomas "Bobby" Myles.
Hollywood was a US Army veteran serving during Desert Storm and Korea 1st CAV Scout Inf. Division. Currently he was employed with United Coal at Affinity in Sophia. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Oak Hill and a former employee of Jan Care Ambulance. He had many interest and hobbies, tinkering in his garage, muscle cars, four wheeling, horseback riding, watching old western movies, singing, Sunday drives, and relaxing with family and friends.
Hollywood and his wife were married underground at the Exhibition Coal Mines in Beckley.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert "Bobby" Myles in 2002.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Becky Myles; mother, Isadora Stover of Oak Hill; son, Michael Myles and his wife Megan and their daughter, Payton of Scarbro, WV; daughters: Jessica Myles of Daniels, WV, Samantha Myles and Kaitlyn Myles, both of Ohio; son Justin Baer of Frederick, MD; daughter, Rachel Brooks and husband, Jared of Hilltop, WV; sister: Bobbi Jean Myles; Horseback riding buddy and cousin, LeAndra Justus of Beckley, WV; friend, Brian Ombler of Minden, WV; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Jerry Brooks officiating. Burial with military honors, by American Legion Post 149, will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM, Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the funeral home.
