Yorktown:- John Stanley Fecondo, 47, passed away on April 14, 2012.

John was born September 21, 1964, in Williamsburg, VA, and grew up in Yorktown. He was a 1982 graduate of Walsingham Academy. John received his BA from University of Virginia in 1987 and relocated to San Francisco, where he developed an interest in the field of gerontology. He received MBA and MA (Gerontology) degrees from San Francisco State University, and was enrolled in a PhD program at University of California, San Francisco, where his research interests included supportive housing for the elderly, aging and the life course, and commodification of aging.

John was a licensed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) administrator. He served as the Marketing Director for AlmaVia of San Francisco, and most recently as Executive Director of University Mound Ladies Home, both assisted living communities for the elderly.

John is survived by his parents, Anthony and Joan Shackelford Fecondo; his brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Jody Fecondo; his nephew, Joseph Fecondo, all of Yorktown; plus an aunt and many cousins.

Funeral services officiated by Reverend Art Wolz will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in the Chapel of Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Gloucester Point Cemetery.
